Introduction to Pinterest

Image
Well I guess I should start with a stern ticking off to myself for not writing on here sooner, this month has just flown by!  So what have I been doing that I was so busy?!   The answer is pretty much - trying to learn (I'd love to say master, but no where near that yet!) social media and promotion of Mystical Rainbow. I have been discovering that you can use Pinterest for something other than losing hours out of your day when you go to look for one thing.  Honestly, I never knew!  I have boards on my personal pinterest that are specifically for crafts I love but will never have time to get around to trying!  Probably because I spend so much time browsing on Pinterest!!! So I have started a business board for Mystical Rainbow and have been learning all about keywords and how search engines function.  It is all so complex and yet so beautifully clever.  Pinterest searches allow small businesses to show up alongside mega companies, so if you s...

Progress on projects

Well it is already April and infact it's Easter weekend!  2021 is going by far too fast. I have been busy doing so many different things this week, although as usual, it is lots of starting things and not quite as often finishing things off. A couple of sales (yay!) on the Etsy store (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/mysticalrainbowgifts - just incase you didn't know!) have meant I needed to get on with the final lacquer stage of some more wall plaques.  So a Home Sweet Home plaque and a new design - dur dur duh - shhh its still a secret! - have been being lacquered, as well as a new product of fridge magnets.  The biggest problem I have is that applying lacquer is a weather dependent stage as it really does have to be done outside.  The issue here is I live in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, a lovely coastal town, where it is inevitably always blowing a gale! I promise pictures will come soon, once final lacquer layers have been applied and I get some nice product shots in the light ...

Me and my week

Image
Wow, it has been an incredibly busy time this week for me.  I am doing an Instagram course with the amazing Kimba Digital and I am discovering it is way more complex than I ever gave it credit for! Working out my perfect Ideal customer and then making the bio short enough to fit in but also specific enough that it covers the who? what? and how?  Totally mindboggling.  So when you next look at someones profile and you glance at the bio under their picture, stop and read it.  It will take you less than 6 seconds - because honestly, they are so short - but in some cases in order to get that message across just perfect, the writer has spent 2 or 3 days agonising over which specific words to use! Who knew!? The biggest lightbulb moment for me with Instagram was when it was pointed out that as a business page - this doesn't apply to your personal page obviously - the content isn't all about things that I like, it should be all about the things that my ideal customer ...

New Product Completed

Image
๐ŸŒˆ Hello ๐ŸŒˆ, well I have been busy working away on some new products to introduce to my Etsy shop.   First of all, after much internal debate as to where to go with the design, I have finished my Rainbow Beaded scarf ๐Ÿงฃ In fact I am so impressed with the finished scarf I have started another one to keep for myself!  Maybe if I wear it out and about I can do some self advertising! Haha. The beading was so much fun and has triggered off a positive cascade of new ideas.  These beads are strung on strong beading cord so that they have more flexibility about them. I wanted to avoid using eyepins or wire as I was worried they wouldn't have any movement to them.  Also I did worry if they would catch in long hair - certainly all design features that I needed to consider! Anyway, once I get some good product photos of it I shall get it listed onto etsy.  I can't see anything like it on Etsy at the moment so I shall take that as a positive sign.  As usual I have...

Official Launch Date

๐ŸŒˆWell it is finally going to happen - MysticalRainbowGifts - will launch Saturday 27th February over on Etsy!  I am sooooo excited, and a little bit nervous. I can let you know that this week will no doubt be a panic of trying to get perfect product shots so you can get as good an idea as possible of what I am selling.  Small items will be captured using the lightbox, thanks to hubby for the loan of this!  Bigger items will take a bit more creativity but I'm sure I will manage with this a little family involvement no doubt. Launch day should include products some crochet and some hand painted items... All my products will include postage and packaging within their prices so don't forget that if you are surprised by my pricing.  (I'm hoping no-one will be, but paranoia and all that!).  I have some lovely colours of tissue papers and rainbow shades of ribbons for wrapping all items before being posted out.  I love all the wrapping up, it's like Christm...

Welcome to my adventure - Rainbows await

๐ŸŒˆ Well this is both scary and a huge achievement - I've set up a blog for Mystical Rainbow! Now my plan is to use this as somewhere to share what I'm working on, what is posted on my etsy shop and to generally share my thoughts and feelings as I set my store and for the adventure there after. So today I have set up this brand new blog site, which is terribly exciting (I'm easily amused!) and feels very grown up and responsible.   I want to make gifts that you want to keep for yourself.  In fact buy 2 so you can keep one and give on away!  Everything in my store will be influenced by rainbows, as I find they bring peace and calm to me.  I hope that by introducing rainbows to your own personal space at home that you too will be able to feel calm and content.   If this is true for you then gifting a rainbow is like giving someone special a feeling of calm and peace, and who wouldn't appreciate that!   Rainbows are a sign of hope, strength, and ...
